Streptavidin Chemistry
A Novel Form of Streptavidin
The streptavidin-biotin interaction is one of the strongest non-covalent interactions in nature. Given that biotin can be attached to antibodies, other proteins, DNA, vesicles, various surfaces, and more, we have developed StreptaClick®-alkyne and StreptaClick®-azide products with predetermined numbers of alkynes/azides. You can attach your own biomolecules to these, allowing you to adapt StreptaClick® to your assays, target-seeking systems, or production enhancers. The controlled number of alkynes/azides makes it easy for you to find the optimal StreptaClick® product for your needs. Furthermore, neither streptavidin nor biotin is known to cause a significant immune response in most organisms, making it advantageous for use in in vivo studies.
StreptaClick® - Next-generation of streptavidin
StreptaClick®, as the name suggests, is based on the highly recognized streptavidin molecule and its outstanding affinity for biotin. However, StreptaClick® brings a lot more to the table than just its biotin-binding capacity.
Firstly, StreptaClick® is monovalent, which means it can be combined with any biotin-tagged molecule in a solution without forming aggregates. This feature is utilized in our IHC kits, where StreptaClick® with fluorochromes and enzymes are attached to biotinylated antibodies before use in IHC protocol. Despite the monovalency of StreptaClick®, it still possesses the same binding affinity as the naturally occurring tetravalent streptavidin.
Secondly, the StreptaClick® molecule is very suitable as a scaffold to which different types of molecules can be attached. Whether it is a fluorochrome as in StreptaClick®-Color, an enzyme as in StreptaClick®-HRP, or any other biomolecule you choose to attach, the flexibility StreptaClick® offers is truly remarkable.
Create Your Own Extraordinary Molecule
Customize StreptaClick® to fit your specific needs. We provide StreptaClick® pre-equipped with either 1-4 azides or 1-4 alkynes. This allows you to attach 1, 2, 3, or 4 molecules with precision, catering to both small scale labeling and bulk production according to your application needs. Additionally, StreptaClick® retains its biotin-binding capacity and can be easily linked to any biotinylated antibody or protein.
